A tan solo 5 km del Hospedaje Caba se encuentra una de las joyas del románico gallego: la iglesia de Santa María de Mezonzo, situada en el propio municipio de Vilasantar. Construida en el siglo XI, es uno de los templos románicos más antiguos e importantes de la provincia de A Coruña.
La iglesia forma parte del antiguo priorato de Mezonzo, vinculado históricamente al Monasterio de San Pedro de Mezonzo. Según la tradición, aquí nació en el siglo X San Pedro de Mezonzo, arzobispo de Santiago de Compostela y autor de la oración Salve Regina. Su arquitectura conserva elementos originales de gran valor: la nave principal, los ábsides semicirculares y los capiteles tallados que han resistido más de diez siglos.
El entorno natural que rodea la iglesia es también notable: el río das Gándaras discurre cerca, formando un pequeño valle con molinos y batanes históricos que complementan la visita.

Romanesque Church of Santa María de Mezonzo
Just 5 km from Hospedaje Caba stands one of the gems of Galician Romanesque architecture: the church of Santa María de Mezonzo, located within the municipality of Vilasantar itself. Built in the 11th century, it is one of the oldest and most important Romanesque churches in the province of A Coruña.
The church is part of the former priory of Mezonzo, historically linked to the Monastery of San Pedro de Mezonzo. According to tradition, Saint Peter of Mezonzo — 10th-century Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela and author of the Salve Regina prayer — was born here. Its architecture retains original elements of great value: the main nave, semicircular apses, and carved capitals that have stood for over ten centuries.
The natural surroundings of the church are equally remarkable: the Río das Gándaras flows nearby, forming a small valley with historic mills and fulling mills that add to the visit.
